<p>Hammel has been All-HCAC for four years in a row at No. 1 single and No. 1 doubles while Postmus was named to the team for the second straight year. Postmus, a sophomore, played No. 2 singles and teamed up with Hammel at No. 1 doubles. Hammel was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for the third straight year.</p>
<p>Junior Tara Akers was named All-HCAC Honorable Mention for the second straight season. She played No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles this season.</p>
<p>AU finished the season 10-5 overall and 6-3 in the HCAC, advancing to the championship match of the post-season tournament for the first time in school history.</p>

<p>The Ravens defeated No. 4 Manchester 5-4 and then knocked off top-seeded Rose-Hulman 5-4 on Saturday in Indianapolis.</p>
<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t even know how to feel and I was stunned,&#8221; said AU coach Sue Hammel. &#8220;I can&#8217;t believe it. I knew we won the match, but I still didn&#8217;t expect it. I am so excited for the girls.&#8221;</p>
<p>Against Manchester, Alex Hammel and Courtney Postmus each won two matches, including one together at No. 1 doubles. Hammel won at No. 1 singles and Postmus at No. 2 singles.</p>
<p>With the score tied at 4-4, Sylvia Schering clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles for the fifth and deciding point.</p>
<p>Other winners were the doubles team of Michaela Hammel and Kourtney Brubaker at No. 3 doubles.</p>
<p>Against Rose-Hulman, the score was again tied at 4-4, but this time it was Michaela Hammel at No. 4 singles that came through with the winning point. The freshman won in three sets by scores of 7-5, 1-6 and 6-2.</p>
<p>Alex Hammel and Postmus again won both their singles and doubles matches with Michaela  Hammel and Brubaker winning again at No. 3 doubles.</p>
<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve worked so hard all year long and we had a team that I knew coudl do it,&#8221; said Hammel. &#8220;To see it come true today is amazing.&#8221;</p>
<p>It will be the first conference championship match appearance for Anderson and Hammel, who has been the coach for 22 seasons.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Hammel finished the week with a perfect 8-0 mark, including a 6-0 mark in three HCAC matches.  Hammel has won 14 straight matches over the last seven contests for the Ravens, including a 12-0 record in HCAC matches during the streak.  The Ravens defeated Goshen, Defiance, and Franklin last week, while falling to Manchester 5-4. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Anderson (6-4, 5-3 HCAC) will close the regular season Wednesday against Mount St. Joseph and will enter the HCAC Tournament this weekend as the No. 5 seed.</span></span></p>

<p>AU opens the season on Sept. 8 at Indiana Wesleyan at 4 p.m.</p>
