Anderson University volleyball player Caitlin Morency has been named the Defensive MVP in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for the 2008 season on Wednesday.
Also named to the All-HCAC volleyball team were Raven juniors Carol Weatherford and Jessica Berlin. Junior Kate McCollum was a honorable mention selection.
Morency led the HCAC in digs with 701, which was second most in school history and over 100 more than the second player in the conference this season. She also led the team in service aces (31) and added 39 kills.
Weatherford ranked second in the HCAC in total blocks with 106. She was first on the team with 31 service aces and third in kills (256). Berlin led the Ravens in kills (357) and was third in the conference. She also had 398 digs, 29 service aces and 30 blocks.
McCollum was second in kills (312) and also had 145 digs, 15 service aces and 22 blocks.
AU finished the season 14-17 overall and 6-2 in the HCAC.

The Anderson University volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament, falling to No. 5 seed Manchester in five games in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Ravens, seeded No. 3, fell to the Spartans by scores of 25-17, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25 and 15-11.
Kate McCollum led the Ravens with 15 kills, 11 digs and Carol Weatherford had 14 kills, 11 service points, five blocks and three digs.
Jessica Berlin had 14 digs, six kills, four service points, two blocks and Elizabeth Turner had six kills and two blocks. Kasey Bollier added 40 assists, 19 digs, six kills and Caitlin Morency added 37 digs, 10 service points, four kills and three service aces.
Seniors Emily Bell chipped in with 10 digs, eight service points and Tara Denham three kills and three digs.
AU finishes the season 14-17 overall and 6-2 in the HCAC, good for third place.

The Anderson University volleyball team clinched third place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Wednesday night, defeating Rose-Hulman in four games at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute.
The Ravens defeated the Engineers by scores 25-22, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-14.
Kasey Bollier led the Ravens with 47 assists, 14 digs, six service points and an ace in her final regular season game.
Allee Donaghy had 15 service points, two service aces and Jessica Berlin had 14 kills, 12 digs and 10 service points, including an ace. Carol Weatherford added 11 kills, four blocks.
Kate McCollum had 17 kills while Caitlin Morency added 24 digs, Tara Denham five blocks and Liz Turner four blocks.
AU (14-16, 6-2 HCAC) will play the No. 5 seed in the HCAC tournament on Nov. 8 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mt. St. Joseph will be the top seed and Defiance the No. 2 seed. The top six teams make the post-season tournament with the top seed hosting.

The Anderson University volleyball team lost to Marian College 25-18, 21-25, 25-15 and 27-25 on Thursday night in Indianapolis.
Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 17 kills and 14 digs. Kate McCollum had 16 kills, four blocks and Carol Weatherford had seven kills, six service points and four blocks.
Kasey Bollier had 46 assists, nine digs and Caitlin Morency had 24 digs and six service points. Allee Donaghy added nine digs, nine service points and Emily Bell six service points.
AU (13-16, 5-2 HCAC) travels to Rose-Hulman next Wednesday at 7 p.m.

For the first time in the 10-year history of the series, the Anderson University volleyball team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference power and No. 25 ranked Mt. St. Joseph.
The Ravens snapped their 15-game losing streak to the Lions, winning by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-22 on Tuesday night at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium for Senior Night.
The Lions have won nine of 10 conference championships since joining the league in 1998 and entered the match with a 70-2 regular season mark in conference play.
Seniors Emily Bell and Kasey Bollier finished with 10 service points, four kills and 41 assists, five digs and four kills, respectively, in their final home matches.
Carol Weatherford led the Ravens with eight service points, seven kills, two blocks and two digs.
Kate McCollum had 12 kills, three digs and Jessica Berlin had seven kills, seven digs and three service points. Caitlin Morency had 22 digs, six service points and Tara Denham five kills and two digs. Liz Turner added 10 kills and Allee Donaghy 11 digs.
AU (13-15, 5-2 HCAC) travels to Marian on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Anderson University volleyball team lost to Huntington College in four games 24-26, 25-22, 25-12 and 25-19 on Saturday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 12 kills, nine digs, five service points and Carol Weatherford had seven kills, eight service points and three blocks.
Kasey Bollier had 31 assists, four digs, four service points and Caitlin Morency had 22 digs, three service points and two kills. Elizabeth Turner added seven kills and Tara Denham five kills and four blocks. Emily Bell chipped in with eight digs and seven service points.

The Anderson University volleyball team rallied from two games down to force a fifth game, but lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Defiance College on Wednesday night at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
The Yellow Jackets won by scores of 32-30, 25-21, 23-25, 17-25 and 15-12 on Dig For A Cure Night to promote breast cancer awareness. It was also Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night.
Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 13 kills, 21 digs, 15 service points and two blocks. Carol Weatherford had 19 kills, five service points, four blocks and Kate McCollum had 15 kills, seven digs and two blocks.
Tara Denham had 11 kills, nine digs, five assists, two blocks and Kasey Bollier had 56 assists, 12 digs, six service points and two blocks. Caitlin Morency added 33 digs, five service points and Liz Turner had five kills, four digs and four blocks.
Allee Donaghy chipped in with 11 digs, eight service points and Emily Bell nine service points and five digs.
AU (12-14, 4-2 HCAC) hosts Huntington on Saturday at noon.

Anderson University’s Jessica Berlin has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday.
Berlin had 37 kills and 20 digs in two matches this week, including AU’s fourth straight conference win against Hanover on Wednesday night. She had 18 kills, 10 digs and a .400 hitting percentage in the win and added 19 kills, 10 digs and a .434 hitting percentage in a loss to Indiana Wesleyan.
Berlin leads the Ravens and is third in the HCAC in kills per game with 3.02.
AU (12-13, 4-1 HCAC) hosts Defiance on Wednesday. The game will be carried live on the internet at 7 p.m. The contest will also benefit breast cancer survivors with donations being raised for that cause.

The Anderson University volleyball team lost to Indiana Wesleyan in four games on Saturday in Marion. The Wildcats defeated the Ravens in Anderson earlier this season, also in four games. The Wildcats won by scores of 25-17, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-7.
Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 19 kills, 10 digs, four service points and Kasey Bollier had 42 assists, eight service points and seven digs.
Carol Weatherford had six kills, five digs, five service points, two blocks and Rachel Peli had 12 digs and four service points. Kate McCollum had eight kills, three digs and Allee Donaghy seven digs. Caitlin Morency added 22 digs, three service points and Tara Denham 10 kills.
AU (12-13, 4-1 HCAC) hosts Defiance on Wednesday and will be carried live on the internet broadcast at 7 p.m. It is also Dig For The Cure Night for increased breast cancer awareness.

The Anderson University volleyball team won its fourth consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match, defeating Hanover College in four games on Wedneday night at Hanover.
Carol Weatherford led the Ravens with 12 kills, nine service points, six digs and five blocks, including two solos. Kasey Bollier had 43 assists, 12 service points, nine digs, three blocks and Jessica Berlin had 18 kills, 10 digs and nine service points.
Caitlin Morency had 23 digs, 11 service points and Kate McCollum had nine kills, four digs and two blocks. Allee Donaghy added eigth digs, seven service points and Tara Denham had six kills and six digs.
AU (12-12, 4-1 HCAC) travels to Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday at noon.
