My time in the Anderson University DBA program enriched my Christian experience without diluting the academic focus or challenge. I left the program having made some really good friends. I became aware of other church backgrounds from my cohort members, and I had a greater appreciation for the body of Christ.

We began offering the Anderson MBA program to our employees more than five years ago. Today, we have several MBA’s who have graduated and more in the pipeline. Our high-potential people compete for the spots we offer as it is perceived to be a great benefit. From the company’s standpoint, it is not simply a retention method but a way that we develop people for our future.

During my senior year at FSB, I jumped on board with AMG. Throughout the year I treaded unmarked territory and tried to develop a real marketing team. Without much experience, this proved to be a challenge, but it was quite exciting. If this thing worked, it could be an invaluable opportunity not only for my team and myself but for future students. Building the team and structuring AMG taught me how to take initiative, which I have brought to my future position. (more…)

My husband Chris (1999 finance grad) and I formed Blue Door Ministries, Inc., from our home in London, England. We aid in providing free resources for churches in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We also administrate live online church experiences several times each week in partnership with LifeChurch.tv. My personal focus is on creating a strong online community of believers and lost people wanting to learn more about Jesus through training, small groups, and missions. We are driven by the goal of connecting churches and believers around the world to make a global difference in reaching lost people — everywhere — before Jesus returns. Nearly every week I speak in public or on video and write content for various blogs. Hands down, being part of the SIFE competition presentation team gave me practical experience to prepare me for the work I do today. (more…)

I am the executive director of a pregnancy care center ministry. We help families that are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. We provide options counseling, material services, a parenting program, post-abortion Bible studies, and abstinence presentations for youth.
Anderson University not only provided the management skills I needed for this position, but practical life skills and spiritual growth which help me tremendously as I minister to others. I know I am making a difference in my corner of the world by helping to preserve the sanctity of human life and leading others to Christ. (more…)

I’ve always been captivated by entrepreneurship, and the Falls School of Business has allowed me to pursue my dreams in ways I never thought possible. The most memorable experience I have in the School of Business is starting my own pancake restaurant with the support and backing of two of my professors. Opening up a restaurant was literally a dream come true, and the experiment quickly went from a practical example of what we learned in class to a campus-wide phenomenon. (more…)

When I was a music business major at AU, I was much more focused on and interested in the music part of that major. Oh, how things have changed! I am now self-employed in private practice as a licensed mental health counselor in Orlando, Florida. While I still utilize the creativity of the music part of that degree (I often write songs and stories for clients), I certainly rely a great deal on what I learned in the Falls School of Business to run my business.
As much as I disliked accounting and economics at the time, those classes helped me understand how to provide for my family while I am making a difference in the lives of hurting families. (more…)

Having a scientific academic background and working as a research scientist, my job focus is primarily technical. The Anderson University MBA program has given me the appropriate business skills to help me advance my career. Instead of solely understanding the research and development side of our products, I now know and appreciate the various business requirements and steps that a product must go through before reaching our customers’ hands.

The Anderson DBA program changed our lives forever. We came as three individuals and graduated as three friends who understand the value and worth of “submit[ting] to one another out of reverence for Christ” (Eph 5:21, NIV).
Marcia O’Brien: I came as a brand new professor after having 26 years in business. I had no experience in academics whatsoever and after the first syllabus arrived, I was convinced there was no way I could be successful in the program. Then I met my friends Amy and Julie who have now become my heart sisters. With their constant encouragement and the incredible spiritual support from the faculty in the program, I did graduate. Anderson’s DBA program enriched me in unexpected ways. I started the program as a tenured accounting professor with 12 years of teaching experience. Frustration with writing an article on some tax work I was doing with students was one of several factors prompting me to pursue a doctorate. I found that the benefits of the DBA were far beyond being able to write this article. There are many positive aspects of the program that I could share, but I will limit my comments to three ways the program enriched me: (more…)
