Anderson University recently honored Dr. Michael Frank, Audrey Weiger, Dr. Lynn Schmidt, and Dr. Lee Griffith with annual faculty/staff awards.

Anderson University recently honored Dr. Michael Frank and Audrey Weiger with John A. Morrison Awards for their commitment and service to AU. In addition, the university presented the MOSAIC Award to Dr. Lynn Schmidt, and the Golden Compass Award to Dr. Lee Griffith. The awards were presented May 7 during the university’s annual faculty/staff recognition luncheon.

Anderson University will offer a live webcast during commencement on Saturday, May 9. Coverage will begin at 3 p.m. EDT.

Anderson University will offer a live webcast during commencement on Saturday, May 9. Coverage will begin at 3 p.m. EDT.

The webcast will feature the entire commencement program, including an address to graduates from Dr. James L. Edwards, former president of Anderson University. Edwards will also receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.

AU student, Ivaan Shrestha, worries about his family in Nepal.

The posts on Facebook didn’t seem too serious at first.

Ivaan Shrestha thought the earthquake that hit his native Nepal was small — something that’s happened before.

It wasn’t until he saw images of historical buildings crumbling to dust that he realized the severity of the quake, and that his family, friends and neighbors were in danger.

But all the Anderson University student could do was watch the devastation from afar and try to get in touch with his loved ones.

Seniors recognized for academic, athletic achievement

Anderson University recognized five seniors for their athletic and academic achievements during honors chapel on April 21 in Anderson, Indiana.

Anderson University recognized seniors Jacob Eiler and Adrienne Johnson  during honors chapel convocation on April 21, for achieving a 4.0 cumulative GPA during their years at AU.

Nichole Frazier and Max Kittle were also recognized with the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award for their academic and athletic accomplishments, campus involvement and leadership.

AU student to lead dance outreach ministry in Trinidad

Learn more about Leanna Miller, a junior at Anderson University, who will be leading a dance outreach ministry in Trinidad this summer.

In July 2015, Leanna Miller, a junior exercise science major with a minor in dance performance, will lead a dance outreach program in Trinidad. The goal for Miller’s trip is to use dance as a form of ministry, worship and outreach.

“Dance is unique in that it can communicate through language and cultural barriers,” said Miller. “The Trinidadian culture is very expressive and vibrant, and dance is a language that they easily and enthusiastically accept.”
