AU Student Recognized by Delta Mu Delta

Anderson University senior Kyle Schroeder has been awarded the James F. Griffin Award, presented annually to an outstanding student of business. The award is presented by Delta Mu Delta, an international honor society in business administration. Along with the award, Schroeder received a $1,000 scholarship.

Schroeder, who was inducted into the Delta Mu Delta honor society in April 2008, says that he is honored to receive the award. “This is a very competitive award which people from all over the country can apply for,” he states, “so it feels great to earn this achievement.” Schroeder is quick to acknowledge the impact that the Falls School of Business and its faculty have had on his success. “From the outstanding faculty to the variety of courses we offer,” he says, “the School of Business has both educated and allowed me to apply business concepts in a very real way.”

Dr. Doyle Lucas, Anderson University’s Delta Mu Delta Faculty Adviser, reiterates the honor of receiving the award. “We’re very pleased to have Kyle’s hard work recognized by the International Scholarship Committee at Delta Mu Delta,” he says. “These scholarships are very competitive and Anderson University and the Falls School of Business have been blessed to have student representation on the scholarship recipient list for each of the past five years.”

Schroeder plans to pursue a full-time career in the business field after he graduates from Anderson University this spring. He says he is confident that this award and the hard work that helped him achieve it will serve as a model when he enters the job market. “Any time you receive a reward, medal, trophy, prize, or scholarship,” he explains, “it is a nice reminder of the hard work that has been invested prior to the award. We don’t always realize the impact of our effort, but this scholarship is a nice reminder of the value of hard work over time.”

Delta Mu Delta was founded in 1913 by five professors from Harvard, Yale, and New York University who believed that exceptional students in the field of business should be given exceptional recognition. Delta Mu Delta was incorporated in 1952 and in 1963 was admitted to membership in the Association of College Honor Societies.
