Five teams of 5 students on a team have been working to help a local business for the past 6 months, and will be presenting their work at the annual AU Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) and the Flagship Enterprise Center Consulting Services Showcase. A panel of local business leaders will evaluate the success of each team and declare a winner, with the top team receiving a $500 cash prize. During the consulting time, projects such as accounting assistance, marketing research, and sales promotion were undertaken by the teams, all with the intention of promoting the growing businesses in ways they cannot do alone.

“This event showcases the impact SIFE is making on the Madison County community as well as provide a venue in which the consulting teams can compete,” said Bethany Masters, vice president of entrepreneurial impact for SIFE.

Among the five selections is Community Networks, a company that provides a link between advertisers and companies looking to use digital signage for promotion. Second, Global Student Solutions works to set up a support system to serve and equip international students during their time in the United States. Next, Point of Service Technologies offers a unique drug testing system to provide a quick, accurate, and cost effective way to determine if a patient is using illegal or prescription drugs . Also among the chosen companies is SecureWebManager, LLC. Owner Mike Kovaleski has developed a state-of-the-art system to provide a more secure way for users to manage log-in names and passwords for the various internet services they use. Finally, screen-printing company ID Graphics will be utilizing SIFE’s consulting talents for the second year in a row.

consultingID Graphics participated in last year’s consulting program, and owner Dan Wehner says the benefit to his business was unprecedented. "Last year's SIFE consulting experience was exactly what I hoped it would be," says Wehner. "I worked with a team of five individuals who each brought unique skill sets and creative solutions to the table to produce a marketing strategy tailored to the needs of my company. Results of their project include a dramatically improved on-time delivery record, a 90% reduction in order errors, a much smoother daily operational flow, and improved customer satisfaction. I couldn't be more pleased with the results of the SIFE Consulting effort." [Above photo: Consulting team with Mike Kovaleski, owner of SecureWebManager.]
