Anderson University welcomes alumni, family and friends back for fun and fellowship during Homecoming 2010, titled "Together Again" Oct. 1-2. Along with the annual homecoming football game and introduction of the homecoming king, queen and court, there will also be opportunities to enjoy the RavenFest, the new Reunion Park, and a theatrical production entitled "Children of Eden."

Director of Alumni Relations, Ben Davis, said, "Homecoming is our opportunity to play host to well over 1000 alumni and friends, some of whom attend every year and some who are coming back for the first time in years or decades."

New events for homecoming 2010 include the class reunions located at Reunion Park.  The Alumni Office will have a specially designated area near the Alumni Tent at the Street Fair from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Sat. Oct. 2 for graduates from all years who are celebrating a Class Reunion.  Along with the Class Reunions, Alumni are also inviting the years before and after the official reunion year as a "cluster reunion" concept:

  • 10 year Reunion: Classes of 1999-2001
  • 25 year Reunion: Classes of 1984-1986
  • 40 year Reunion: Classes of 1969-1971
  • 50+ year Reunion: Classes of 1961 and before

Originally indoors and following the football game, the new approach for the class reunions "allows alums to enjoy the football game and other activities with friends and family while still connecting with their former AU classmates," said Elyse Cromer, manager of alumni programs.

The Alumni Office will also host a new "Young Alum Coffeehouse" on Friday, Oct. 1, following the late Cheap Thrills, for graduates from 2005-2010. The Multicultural Alumni Reunion will be Friday as well at 6 p.m. at the University Village Clubhouse.  Returning this year will be the Live Homecoming Webcast from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Street Fair.  Join the 1950s and 1970s tents at the football game. AU is also collaborating with AU alum Luke Renner's to host a 5k "Walk for Haiti" through The Learning Village at 9 a.m. More details of how to register can be found online.

"During the Street Fair near the Alumni Tent, another new tradition beginning at AU this year will be the Raven's Nest Sundae," added Cromer. "The sweet treat will only be available annually at homecoming and will hopefully create another area where alumni and friends can reminisce about their time at AU."

The alumni office is encouraging as many people as possible to register online at https://co.clickandpledge.com/advanced/default.aspx?wid=28826 to register for events or share you are attending. Alum can also pre-register for a special Homecoming t-shirt for just $5.
