AU alumni Dave Frey and Ben McDonald, along with their band, Sidewalk Prophets (sidewalkprophets.com), will return to Anderson University Tuesday, Sept. 28, where they will perform during chapel at 10 a.m. in Reardon Auditorium.
McDonald and Frey met at Anderson University about eight years ago, and began writing songs together. While at AU, they won a recording competition through the university's Orangehaus Records and attracted the attention of music industry executives.
Sidewalk Prophets has achieved national recognition since the release of their major-label debut, These Simple Truths, in 2009, and earlier this year the band received the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year.
Sidewalk Prophets has shared the stage with numerous gospel musicians and bands including Michael W. Smith, MercyMe, Jeremy Camp, and Audio Adrenaline. The band maintains a heavy touring schedule, playing more than 150 shows a year.
Last year, the band visited the WQME 98.7 FM studios in Anderson for an interview with Matt Rust, the program director at WQME, in advance of the release of These Simple Truths. Listen to the interview at this link.
