Servant leadership is one of the core values upon which Anderson University is built. Service is encouraged of students from the moment they arrive on campus until they graduate, with the hope that they will lead lives of service. During the holiday season, the AU Honors Program chose to serve two women from the AU community.

Misty Novak had no idea what she would experience after losing her son, Zachary, 25, in a plane crash more than six years ago.
Novak, of Anderson [and a 1978 graduate of Anderson University], had countless books about grief but she didn’t feel like any of them properly addressed the emotions of the first year.
“A lot of books skimmed it but none really talked about what that first year was like,” she said. “I got a lot of nudging that I should write about it. It was like a calling for me.”
Anderson University (Anderson, Ind.) once again earned a place in the top tier among Midwest regional universities in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2013 guidebook. The exclusive rankings, which include nearly 1,400 schools nationwide, are available today online, and will also be published in U.S. News & World Report, on newsstands starting September 18. This marks the ninth consecutive year AU has been ranked among the nation’s best colleges.
The red carpet had been rolled out for the students at J.W. Reason Elementary School in Hilliard.
Outside the front entrance, Amanda Chapman, a 2008 Anderson University graduate, eagerly awaited her fourth-graders, wearing a turquoise flowered dress she’d picked out a month earlier because she thought it made her look welcoming.
Anderson University is one of the best colleges and universities in the Midwest according to The Princeton Review.
