SOT offers classes in Indianapolis

Beginning this Fall, the Anderson University School of Theology will offer courses in Indianapolis, blending academic excellence with a convenient location. Abounding Grace Church of God, 6280 Sunnyside Road, Indianapolis, is serving as host for these classes.

Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:00 to 8:45 p.m. This Fall, Dr. Robert Branson will offer Literature and History of the Old Testament I on Tuesdays, while Dr. James Lewis will teach Theological Ethics on Thursdays.

It is always exciting to share of gifts received from our many friends.

A substantial gift came to the Seminary from the estate of Vergie S. Bowlby. This endowment makes awards available to any seminary student with financial need. Miss Bowlby also provided a significant gift to Anderson University from this estate.

An estate gift was also received from John Fred Adams of British Columbia for the use of the Seminary Renovation project. This gift was important to the completion of the renovation project.

Serving outside the seminary walls

Dr. David Sebastian, dean of the seminary, attended the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities meeting in Atlanta, Ga.; presented papers on trends and seminary education in Fritzlar, Germany; and attendeded the Association of Theological Schools Biennial Meeting in Montreal, Canada.

AU School of Theology honors distinguished members

Anderson University School of Theology honored Dr. Kerry Robinson with the 2010 Distinguished Ministries Award, Dr. Randall W. Spence with the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award, Dr. Cassandra Trentaz with the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award, and Dr. Merle D. Strege with the 2010 Distinguished Service Award at the annual SOT Alumni & Friends Annual Awards Luncheon on Monday, June 28.

CCL certificates awarded

Deborah Oakley of Trenton, Ohio, received the Certification in Ministerial Studies. Oakley began her work with the Center in 2007 with the desire to become equipped in developing a mentor/discipleship ministry for her local congregation. She commented that she has a deep desire to serve alongside her husband in ministry. She found the center’s programming helpful in learning more about the Bible and ministry practices overall.
