Student Life

First-Year Seminar

Student in the ValleyFirst-Year Seminar is designed to orient new students to the issues inherent in college life through large group sessions and small group seminars, as well as individual interaction with both faculty and peer mentors.

First-year students take this course in the fall semester of their first year, with the same mentor group with which they go through Orientation. The course is built around the five core values that underlie our institutional story and form the pillars of the AU experience: Integrity, Excellence, Servant Leadership, Responsibility, and Generosity. It introduces students to the Anderson University community and prepares them for the pursuit of whole-person education (academic, personal, social and spiritual).
