Athletic Training Careers

Athletic trainers find work in a variety of organizations and businesses as qualified health-care professionals who specialize in prevention, recognition, management, and rehabilitation of injuries that result from physical activity. As a part of a complete health-care team, the certified athletic trainer works under the direction of a licensed physician and in cooperation with other health-care professionals, athletics administrators, coaches, and parents. Students who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training program, such as the one at AU. Athletic training students work on campus with students recovering from injuries or conditioning to prevent injuries. They travel with the AU sports teams to provide care on the road as well.
