Merribeth Bruning serves as dean of the Anderson University School of Education. She earned her three degrees from Ball State University. Her doctoral degree included a major in Elementary Education with cognates in Early Childhood and Music. In addition to her own music studio, her experiences comprise teaching and administrative responsibilities in five states in elementary and elementary music classrooms as well as education courses at the college and university level. Just prior to coming to Anderson University as Dean of Education, August 1, 2016, she was dean of education at a faith-based university in Arkansas for ten years. Her research areas include multicultural education, arts integration, and teacher effectiveness. As part of her multicultural education emphasis she previously created a partnership with a border school district in Texas and facilitated a short-term study abroad program in education with an ecumenical faith-based university in England.

Dr. Bruning is married to Dr. Earl Bruning, a retired music educator and professor. They have one son who completed his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies-Old Testament at the University of Notre Dame and who is a college professor, as well. The family enjoys music, reading, and hiking; as well as time with family and friends.

Dr. Bruning has been at Anderson University since 2016.
