Women’s Philanthropy council

The Women’s Philanthropy Council – Women making a meaningful impact by serving the Anderson University campus and community.

Women joining together to be change agents for Anderson University.

The purpose of the Women’s Philanthropy Council (WPC) is to engage and inspire women to support and invest in Anderson University and AU students. The Council offers opportunities for women to gather, network, and combine resources for maximum impact to tackle challenges both large and small, in an effort to support Anderson University’s mission in addressing the things that are important to AU, the students, and the donors.

Research shows that women tend to give their time, talent, and treasure where they believe they make a difference. There are thousands of women’s giving councils because there’s just something special about women joining together for a common purpose! Together, we can create positive, meaningful change.

“I chose to join the Women’s Philanthropy Council for two reasons. First, I enjoy that we review proposals submitted from across the university for projects that likely wouldn’t happen without a substantial gift. We are able to vote on the proposals and select how our annual dues will be used to impact change in the campus community. Second, I like that there are opportunities to serve and volunteer on campus. I just joined this year, and it’s been an exciting first year!”

In October 2022, the Anderson University Women’s Philanthropy Council was officially launched at their inaugural annual dinner and meeting during Homecoming week. The group was started with 61 founding members…alumni, current and retired faculty and staff members, AU parents, community members from Anderson and Madison County, and more…all of whom have a heart for Anderson University and want to make a difference in the lives of AU students.

The Women’s Philanthropy Council (WPC) is led by eleven charter members who helped take the initiative from a dream to reality. These members not only made the crucial decisions needed to form the group and launch the initiative but also continue to give ongoing oversight. In addition, there are three co-chairs who give guidance to the work being done by this generous and dedicated group of women.

No matter the role each woman plays within the council, much has already been accomplished! By pooling all of their membership gifts together and voting on which projects to fund, the women are able to make a much bigger impact. Plus, the council is able to get more involved with the process of making this impact!

How do I become a member?

The Women’s Philanthropy Council (WPC) has vision to grow with more women who believe in and love Anderson University and AU students. Council members are asked to make an annual membership gift and be available for an annual WPC meeting for project reviews, networking, and voting. Joining the WPC includes a 3-year pledged commitment. 100% of the annual membership dues will be directed toward council elected projects.
