Women in Ministry and Mission
Did you know that the Church of God (Anderson, Ind.) has affirmed women in ministry from the very beginning of the Reformation Movement? We stand firmly with the Apostle Paul when he wrote, "There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28); and, "For he (Christ) is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us" (Ephesians 2:14).
It is in this spirit that Church of God Ministries, Christian Women Connection, and the Anderson University School of Theology and Christian Ministry have encouraged the formation of Qara: Church of God Women in Ministry and Mission. Qara is the Hebrew word meaning "God has called." Our mission is to affirm God's call on the lives of women to serve in vocational ministry.
The strategies and goals of Qara are to support, educate, advocate, and network women in ministry.
If you are a clergy woman or a woman experiencing a call to ministry, we hope you will become a part of Qara. For information concerning this program, contact us: The Rev. Dr. MaryAnn Hawkins (Convener), firstname.lastname@example.org or (765) 641-4535.
