Minors

The Falls School of Business minors are open to all students. If you major outside the business school, you may need to take additional courses to meet the requirements. We have provided the typical coursework below to give you a good idea of what topics you will get the chance to study with each minor.

18-hour Minor

For students with majors in or outside the Falls School of Business, you will take these courses:

  • Principles of Accounting I
  • Business Finance
  • Intermediate Finance
  • Investments
  • Money and Banking
  • Select 3 hours from:
    • Financial Planning
    • Global Finance and Accounting
    • Practicum in Business
    • Portfolio Management
    • Topics in Business and Economics*
    • Business Internship

*When taken to fulfill a requirement for a major or minor, Topics in Business and Economics must have the prior approval of the student’s advisor.

Economics

18-hour Minor

For students with majors in or outside the Falls School of Business, you will take these courses:

  • Principles of Macroeconomics
  • Principles of Microeconomics
  • Intermediate Economic Analysis 
  • Money and Banking
  • Select 6 hours from:
    • Public Finance
    • International Economics
    • Practicum in Economics***
    • Topics in Contemporary Economics and Finance
    • Topics in Business and Economics**
    • Global Political Economy

** When taken to fulfill a requirement for a major, Topics in Business and Economics must have the prior approval of the student’s advisor. When taken to fulfill a minor requirement, the course must have the approval of the dean of the Falls School of Business.
*** Practicum or internship must focus on experience related to the student’s major or minor and must be approved by the dean of the Falls School of Business.

Management
For majors in the Falls School of Business (15 hours):

  • Selected from BSNS and ECON courses listed for the management major (excluding core courses)

For majors outside the Falls School of Business (17-18 hours):

  • Principles of Management
  • 5-6 hours from additional courses in the business core
  • 9 hours from BSNS and ECON courses listed for the management major (excluding core courses)
Marketing
For majors in the Falls School of Business (15 hours):

  • Buyer/Seller Relations
  • Marketing Research
  • Marketing Management
  • Select 6 hours from these courses:
    • Consumer Behavior
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Integrated Branding and Promotion I
    • Integrated Branding and Promotion II 
    • Global Marketing
    • Topics in Business and Economics**

For majors outside the Falls School of Business (17-18 hours):

  • Principles of Marketing

  • 9 hours from BSNS courses in the marketing major
