Welcome New Students!

Welcome to Anderson University! I am excited that you are about to write a new chapter in your story here at AU! Anderson University is a wonderful and healthy place for you to allow your real life to be fully transformed. You will be invited to discover your passions, develop your skills, and understand yourself and God’s calling more fully. You will also be encouraged—and at times stretched—in the faith-forming and refining journey these college years so often represent. 

Each year we select a campus theme to guide the programs within the Department of Student Life. This year’s theme is "Flourish," which means "to grow and develop in a healthy or vigorous way especially as a result of a healthy environment." This semester during Tuesday chapels, we will be going through the book of Psalms as a way to dig deeper into what it means to truly flourish. And don't forget to download the official AU student app for Android or iPhone, which is how you will earn chapel credits!

As you embark on your journey with us, I invite you to post about your experiences with #MyAUStory so that we can celebrate what God is doing in and through us as a community! I look forward to seeing you back on campus soon for orientation!

Students attending AU are required to live in on-campus housing. You may live in off-campus housing if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • married
  • over the age of 22
  • classified as a senior
  • living with parents

You must pay your $100 enrollment deposit and submit your housing application to be assigned a residence hall and roommate. If you have not yet completed your housing application, go to housing.anderson.edu today. The student life staff will facilitate housing and roommate assignments. All students are encouraged to carry private renter’s insurance as Anderson University will not be held responsible for loss or damage of personal items in the residence hall. Residence hall rooms are furnished with twin beds, desks, dressers, chairs, and wardrobes. You should bring blankets, towels, bed linens, and pillows. You can check out our online packing list for more suggestions of what to bring! If you plan to pursue student employment, don't forget to bring identification for your I-9 (unexpired passport or SS card or birth certificate) and your banking information for direct payroll deposit.

For safety reasons, anything with a hot surface (i.e. hot plate, candle warmers, etc.) or exposed heating element (i.e. toaster) are not permitted in the residence halls. Only extension cords with surge protectors may be used. Small compact microwave ovens and compact refrigerators (as large as four cubic feet) are permitted.

 

You recently received your first bill from the Office of Student Financial Services. Please choose from the following options to complete your payment arrangements:

  1. Direct payment, in full, to Anderson University.
  2. Enroll in a payment plan. You can enroll by logging into AccessAU and navigating to the Student Service Center, under Self Service. There, choose “NBS - Make a Payment” (under the finances section) to connect with our financial services provider, Nelnet Business Solutions.
  3. A Parent PLUS loan is possible for qualified applicants (details).
  4. Private (non-federal) student loans usually require a creditworthy co-signer (details).

Semester Costs for 2018-2019 Tuition (12-18 hours): $14,975 per semester, Standard Room: $3,090 per semester, Raven Basic Meal Plan: $1,855 per semester, Student Services Fee: $250 per semester. If you haven't yet attended Raven 101, sign up now for our event on Aug. 3. The final day to register for fall semester classes is Aug. 23. All new students (first-time freshmen and transfer students) will take the math placement exam if their MATH SAT-MSS/ACT section is not over 540/23 and possibly take a foreign language exam depending on the number of years they have had in high school. The Mail Center provides a mailbox for all students. You will find your mailbox assignment and combination on Access AU in late August. Look under the self-service option and click on the mailbox info tab. The package window is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. We can be reached at mailcenter@anderson.edu or (765) 641-4120. Please do not use the words “Box” or “Post Office Box” in the address. Most of you will be sharing a mailbox with another student, so please leave their mail for them. The Mail Center is also the central site for lost and found.

 

It’s not necessary for students to have vehicles, but if you do:

All students who park a vehicle on campus or on public streets within campus jurisdiction are required to register the vehicle with Police/Security Services and comply with the AU parking policies. Parking permits are $60 per school year. We recommend students register their vehicles immediately by going to anderson.edu/parking. All permits ordered online will be mailed to your home during the summer. The permit can be affixed completely to the lower corner on the inside driver’s side front windshield. Permits ordered by Tuesday, July 31 will be mailed to the home address listed unless you choose to pick it up. Parking permits can also be obtained in the Police/Security Office in Hardacre Hall on weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. by manually completing a form. All vehicle information will be needed for this registration.

Please plan to purchase your permit by Friday, Aug. 24, in order to be ready for the first day of classes. If you have questions about parking permits, please call (765) 641-4154.

 

Connect with campus by downloading the official AU student app for Android or iPhone. The app is a great way to access resources on campus and to connect with your fellow Ravens. Just sign in with your RavenMail email address, and you'll find important links, calendars, and a spot to interact with fellow students, buy or sell items, find ride-sharing options, and more! This app is also used to earn chapel credits, so be sure to download it before the first chapel on Aug. 28!
