What is Orangehaus Music Business Camp?

 

This is an extraordinary week long music business experience designed especially for high school students. The unique program was developed by Anderson University music business faculty and is sponsored by Orangehaus Records and Anderson University.

Who can attend the Orangehaus Music Business Camp?

Any high school student interested in learning more about the music business should register for this camp.

What if I can't afford to pay full price?

Scholarship funds are available to those who qualify. Decisions are made based upon academic good standing, passion for music business, and financial need. Contact Dr. Rebecca Chappell or Jill Goodwin to apply.

Do I need to have a background in music?

It is not necessary to be a musician or to even have a background in music business in order to benefit from this unique program. Classes are available for non-musicians who want to focus on the business side of the industry (management, marketing, promotion).

Should I bring my instrument?

Absolutely! Several opportunities will be available for students to perform, record, or just jam with the other students at the camp.

What is the daily schedule?

Music business classes are scheduled Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with special concerts and showcases scheduled every evening. Students will meet all together for the morning classes, which focus on the fundamentals of music business. Afternoon classes are selected according to each student’s special interests in music business, such as songwriting, producing, marketing, etc. There will be a Saturday morning “wrap-up” session before the camp ends at noon.

Who will be teaching the music business classes?

Instructors are music business faculty at Anderson University, assisted by award-winning producers, engineers, songwriters, entertainment attorneys, booking agents, managers, and live performance producers who currently work in the industry.

What is the cost of the camp?

The price per student was $695 all-inclusive (tuition, housing, meals). A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required upon registration.

Price includes tuition, housing, and meals.

What time should I plan to arrive for camp and when will it end?

Check-in begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, and the camp ends at 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 15.  Friends and family are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15.

Will I need additional monies during the camp?

Students may want to bring some additional money for extra snacks, CDs,  or bookstore items.

What type of lodging is provided?

Housing is on the beautiful Anderson University campus in Morrison Hall. Each dorm room accommodates two students and we will attempt to honor any roommate requests. Students will be issued a swipe card for entrance to Morrison Hall and an individual room key. (Note: a $50 charge will be assessed for each room key not returned at the end of camp.)

Are linens provided?

You may bring your own linens to camp or Anderson University linen service will provide the following at no additional charge:

  • 1 blanket
  • 2 single sheets
  • 1 pillow case
  • 2 bath towels
  • 1 hand towel
  • 1 wash cloth
  • 1 soap

What safety provisions have been made?

University police and security will be present on campus at all times. Dormitory doors are locked at all times. Students are provided with a swipe card for the dormitory building entrance and a key for individual rooms.

What is camp’s policy on discipline?

All camp participants will be provided with rules of conduct and are expected to adhere to these rules. Any student who violates these policies will be sent home immediately.

Is there a dress code?

All of our buildings are air conditioned, so students will want to dress appropriately. Also, clothing should not display any questionable writing or design that would be offensive to the guidelines of Anderson University.

Where will the music business camp be held?

Orangehaus Music Business Camp will take place in the Krannert Fine Arts Building on the campus of Anderson University in Anderson, Ind. (35 miles northeast of Indianapolis)
